it is amazing how bethel is the best at making apostates!
i wonder how many new up and coming apostates the new wt headquarters will generate?.
what nice and fresh stories will surface from the secluded and private wt hub?

within the last few years i understand watchtower has issued a concession (no apology) of minor proportion.
they don't admit to the avalanche of some 8 sequential positions (yes, no, yes, no, ...) of, "will the sodomites receive a resurrection?".
i think they admit to about three of them.
Hi Splash, your list looks exciting. Since they are all 1988 and so we can confirm their sequence can you please list the month and day on the following?
1988 NO Revelation - Its Grand Climax p.273
1988 YES You Can Live Forever... p.179 (Old Edition)
1988 NO You Can Live Forever... p.179 (New Edition)

Yes, you must use the 360 (lunar) day year to argue with them. You still win, however, based on the above post.
Watchtower, 1960, 4/15 p. 251 par. 18 Part 36—“Your Will Be Done on Earth”
The 1,290 days must be treated from the standpoint of the lunar calendar. Hence divine prophecy treats a month as being thirty days long, on the average.

"I look forward to any results you have."
Here, Londo, is how I calculate using a 360 day year and you can try it on your Excel (or LibreOffice or OpenOffice machine).
Place the following into a single cell: =DAYS360("1/25/1919","8/25/1922",1) with the cell formatted as Number. (you may substitute "true" for that value of 1)
That cell will return a value of 1290. However, that the Cedar Point convention didn't begin on 8/25/1922 as this formula uses. Bad news for the Watchtower apologist who is hoping that a 360 day year will redeem Watchtower's calculation accuracy.
As a different check, plug the following into a single cell: =DAYS360("1/25/1919","9/5/1922",1)
There, using both Watchtower beginning and start dates you will see a calculated value of 1300, again not the 1290 that Watchtower likes either, this time using Cedar Point's beginning date of September 5, 1922.
Here the critic might say that we're nitpicking. I say we're not the ones who've made those crazy mathematical statements. They should've known that math is unforgiving -- it either is or it isn't what you'd like it to be.

I haven't posted this link in a long time. It's to a free google document that lists identity handles of all known ex-bethelites that have joined this forum and have posted here. Some are CO's and there may be a DO on the list -- I don't remember.
Call my attention to ones not on the list and I will include them.

by "divine providence" what did jesus' followers become known as?.
Good refs, Blondie.
Another question -- how many times did Jesus address Jehovah by name in his model prayer? Zero. How many times did your DO adress Jehovah by name in his concluding prayer at the last convention?
My dad's name was Wesley. Care to guess how many times I addressed him by name? Zero!

I don't pretend to be skilled with Excel although I used it a lot in my pre-retirement years. I retired some 11 years ago. Now, I'm using the freebee LibreOffice Calc and it seems to behave very similar to Excel.
My point? Some Watchtower apologist may bring up the 360 day year instead of the 365+ day year those video creators used by using Excel's standard date addition. I decided to see if Excel (it's more popular when you do a Google search for help) had some 360 day year function I could understand. Sure enough, they both have the DAYS360 function. Recall that the video using Excel's standard date function returned a date -- not the Watchtower target of Sept 5-13, 1922 but Aug 7, 1922. That's about a month difference.
Using, however, the DAYS360 function calculation returns 8/25/1922. Yes, it cuts the Watchtower error in half but still no bragging rights for the Society and the apologist. That's still a two week discrepancy from Watchtower's Cedar Point start date.

ps: I don't have time tonight to paste my calc trail. If it's important perhaps someone else can take the time -- which will confirm or crash my numbers.
following on from a recent post that asked for a list of the watchtower changers since you left, it would be intetesting to compile the list with why the changes were made.. .
Oubliette: "To maintain the illusion of forward motion"
Great thinking.
To be honest, this impressed me before I got out in '77. Every time they announced a change, most of us applauded the fact that NEW LIGHT continued to tantalize our appetite for more and more. Little did we know that if you're not careful (Watchtower wasn't) you might return to an exact teaching you advocated before. And in those years and earlier it happened and there weren't many watchdog critics able to spot those flip-flop teachings. Computers and the internet were just gleams in the eyes of high tech folks of that era. Even Watchtower writers had very challenging tasks, with no computer, to search for teaching positions on certain topics prior to their day.
The Great Watchtower Contradiction emphasizes such a scenario. The following is a link to that free 11 minute read. http://goo.gl/TkcHt

Thanks all for some very thought provoking points. Whether Watchower pubs have contradicted themselves once or 8 times on this single teaching, they prove themselves less than honest (it's called lying) when they declared in 1981:
"At times explanations given by Jehovah’s visible organization
have shown adjustments, seemingly to previous points of view. But
this has not actually been the case." The Watchtower (WT), 1981, 12/1 p.
